Database platforms and websites were ideal for website promotion due to their potential for high user engagement. What we call a platform today had no formal definition at the time. Bulletin boards, online emails and shopping carts were among the most used platforms. Likewise, database websites were just as valuable for website promotion as they served as official sources of information.
Are platforms and databases still effective for website promotion? They’re expensive to build and can take years to launch, but the right concept can catch the world’s attention.
