EL imaging is a powerful inspection method that can reveal defects and microcracks in solar cells inside a photovoltaic (PV) module. It is widely used as a quality control tool in PV manufacturing. For years, PVEL has used a manual daytime EL tester to perform field EL inspection of over 2 GW of underperforming or damaged PV systems. Currently, EL imaging is only performed on a sample basis due to the speed and cost limitations of manual inspection technologies. With this new agreement, PVEL will expand its field testing services to perform faster inspection of large-scale solar assets.

- Identification and evaluation for an insurance and/or warranty claim for damaged and/or underperforming PV modules.
- Technical due diligence before the transaction or rental of photovoltaic assets.
- Initial Site Acceptance Test (SAT) to exclude physically damaged PV modules caused by improper execution.
- Detect early failures before the Defect Liability Period (DLP) expires, including PV modules excessively degraded by Induced Light (LID).
- Annual PV module quality checks to closely monitor up to 100% of the PV system.
