SCADAfence expands partnership with Keysight to provide breach and attack simulation to IT-OT environments

Collaboration offers a new security solution to validate critical infrastructure security controls using sophisticated attack simulations in IT-OT environments in a safe and non-intrusive manner.

TEL AVIV, Israel, April 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — SCADAclosurethe global leader in cybersecurity for operational technology (OT) and Internet of Things (IoT) environments, today announced a partnership with Keysight-Technologies, to integrate Keysight’s Threat Simulator Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) solution with SCADAfence’s advanced OT security platform. The integration enables security teams to run simulations of attacks against converged information technology and operational technology (IT-OT) networks to improve their security posture.

With a constant stream of threats from inside and outside OT networks, the risk of falling victim to a security breach has never been higher. To combat these growing threats, SCADAfence and Keysight have collaborated on a solution that builds on each company’s strengths. In doing so, SCADAfence and Keysight help broaden the understanding of attacks, detection and mitigation for IT and OT.

By implementing advanced breach and attack simulation in IT and OT networks, this new solution will assess and validate the effectiveness of the security controls currently in place, including all known risk factors, most common attacks and human errors.

The new platform will be presented live during the next S4x22 conference at Miami on April 19-21 by an industry veteran Paul Smith. Smith, pioneer in the field of industrial cybersecurity and author of Pentesting of industrial control systems, joined SCADAfence as field CTO.

Through this collaboration, Keysight customers will be able to extend their breach and attack simulation to OT networks and assets with the SCADAfence platform. Keysight customers can leverage their existing Keysight visibility components to augment and enhance Threat Simulator tool reporting to also cover OT.

In addition, the SCADAfence platform will provide Keysight customers with enhanced vulnerability insights into converged IT-OT networks through continuous assessment of defensive controls and strategies in place. For example, the Keysight Threat Simulator tool can now simulate attacks from the IT network to the OT network. This allows to assess the different risks by understanding the type and criticality of the OT device, and to better understand the attack paths and the impact by obtaining a list of connections of the attacked node.

“To ensure a strong defense, organizations must adopt an offensive approach that uses up-to-date threat intelligence to continuously verify that their enterprise-wide security controls are working as intended and are optimized for maximum protection. “, said Scott Registry, vice president of security solutions at Keysight. “Through our latest collaboration with SCADAfence, our customers can run simulations of attacks originating from IT networks to OT segments within critical infrastructures, validate security controls, and ensure they detect and prevent attackers. to enter these environments.

“By enabling organizations to simply and continuously simulate attacks within their OT environments, security teams will be able to truly understand their security vulnerabilities and where they need to remediate,” said Elad Ben Meir, CEO of SCADAfence. Through this partnership with Keysight, we will help more industry organizations run simulated OT security scenarios in a way that was not possible until now. Organizations are gaining a “red team in a box” where they can now gain a more comprehensive understanding of their OT assets, communications, and actual network traffic.”
